About Knoxville Dermatopathology Lab

KNOXVILLE DERMATOPATHOLOGY LABORATORY is a specialty reference laboratory dedicated to providing surgical pathology services to physicians treating skin diseases. The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologyand is licensed by CLIA and the state of Tennessee. Skilled laboratory personnel, modern equipment and methods and a state-of-the-art computer system are the foundations of the laboratory. Diagnostic interpretations are performed by dermatopathologists. Our dermatopathologists have completed university-based fellowships and hold certificates of special qualification in dermatopathology awarded by the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology. They are devoted to the science of skin disease, the pursuit of knowledge and the art of diagnostic dermatopathology. Laboratory services include evaluation of skin biopsies and excisions, direct and indirect immunofluorescence examination, slide preparation and immunohistochemical staining. Consultations on difficult or unusual conditions and second opinions are available. Reliable diagnostic reporting and prompt, courteous service reflect our commitment to quality patient care.

Dr. Paul Googe is a board certified pathologist and has special qualifications in dermatopathology as certified by the American Board of Pathology and American Board of Dermatology. A native of Knoxville, Dr. Googe, is a graduate of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He received his pathology and dermatopathology training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Doctor Googe is Associate Clinical Professor of Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical School and at the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. Dr. Googe is Medical Director of Knoxville Dermatopathology Laboratory.

Dr Roy King is board certified in Anatomic Pathology by the American Boards of Pathology with subspecialty board certification in Dermatopathology by the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology. Dr. King attended medical school at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He received his pathology training at University of Manitoba, Canada and completed a Surgical Pathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, under the direction of Dr Juan Rosai. Dr. King received his dermatopathology training at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York under the direction of Drs. Martin C. Mihm, Jr and Andrew J Carlson.

Dr. Robert Page is board certified in Anatomic Pathology by the American Boards of Pathology with subspeciality board certification in Dermatopathology by the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology. Dr. Page was an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University and attended medical school at the University of Arkansas. He received his pathology training and completed a Surgical Pathology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Page received his dermatopathology training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX under the direction of Dr. Jon Reed.
